Masahisa ASADA
Yasuhisa ASADA succeeded to his father Roji as the 3rd generation of Kawara Bobo(factory). MITI’s Minister awarded the latter for his skill of traditional Hikkake-San Gawara The former, who majored in architecture at Osaka Industrial College, took over his family business of Kawara. His specialty is in Oni(Demon) Gawara, devoting himself to creating new type of Kawara works.

Now he has been producing original works with traditional skill and techniques at their base. His series of products, such as SHOKI towering on top of the roof as a charm, ornaments of ETO, KAMON(crest), originating from Oni-Gawara, ANDON(Japanese lantern) of great depth, is astonishingly beautiful and grand. He is molding Kawaras and cultivating new ideas, and thus stepping into the region of ART.

He has been seeking originality in his works, inheriting skills for long time. He is a real craftsman, but his dream is beyond that stage of attainment. He wants to be an artist infusing new ideas into old tradition in the world of KAWARA.
